CyLab Korea
CyLab Korea is an innovative initiative that recognizes the need for international collaboration to successfully protect the international information infrastructure and the critical physical infrastructures increasingly dependent upon it.
CyLab Korea is a partnership between Carnegie Mellon CyLab and both the Korea Information Security Agency (KISA) and the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) of the Government of the Republic of Korea.
Under the agreement, KISA (MIC) becomes a founding member of CyLab and will jointly work with Carnegie Mellon on various cybersecurity research projects. The collaboration will be facilitated by the exchange of personnel, and initially six researchers from Korea will be stationed in Pittsburgh, where they will work closely with researchers at CyLab.
The major goal of the collaboration is to exploit the complementary strengths of both partners to perform the enabling research for next generation monitoring and intrusion protection systems for survivable networks. With the highest penetration of broadband Internet access in the world and a well developed capacity in computer and network security research, the Republic of Korea is the ideal first partner for CyLab in its pursuit of an international strategy.
