Transitioning to Carnegie Mellon

Next Steps Brochure

The Next Steps Brochure was created to help new students transition to Pittsburgh, CMU and the INI. It provides a wealth of contact information and other details students will need. It is provided to each incoming class. Students may use it as a “Go-To” guide as they familiarize themselves with the city and campus. You will also be paired with a current student to act as a mentor while you make your transition to CMU.

English Language Training and Support

Some international students may find in their letter of admission a requirement to attend a summer workshop offered by the Intercultural Communication Center (ICC). The workshop is intended to help non-native English speakers strengthen their language skills in areas where they may show some weakness. If required, the workshop is a condition of enrollment.

  • All international students must complete the Language Support Check-In through the Intercultural Communication Center (ICC).
