Scholarship for Service (SFS) students may also use the Heinz School Career Services Office as an additional resource, but not as their primary selection.

You are encouraged to read the information on each career center's web site and call and/or visit the career centers to learn more and decide which one is best for you.

INI Career Resources

Each fall the INI publishes a student resume book that is distributed to hundreds of companies that have either hired INI graduates in the past or have requested resume information. Companies may then contact students directly to set up interviews for job or internship opportunities.

INI alumni are also a source of job and internship opportunities. Graduates of the program regularly alert the INI to positions available within their companies or return to CMU as recruiters for their companies. Recent employers of INI graduates include Oracle, Verizon, PNC Bank, Lockheed Martin, (more)..

Carnegie Mellon Career Center

The Carnegie Mellon Career Center provides career development programs and placement services to meet the changing needs of society and the student and alumni goals of finding satisfying work.

Tepper School of Business Career Opportunities Center (COC)

The Tepper COC exists to help students find the right career, and they work very hard to achieve that goal for all students. They also work hard to ensure that students have a broad array of companies and jobs to choose from.

The students who are most successful in the job hunt are those who put significant effort into it. While Tepper provides a wide variety of services (corporate presentations, workshops on resume writing and networking, etc.), each student needs to be proactive as well. You should make it a priority to attend the programs and events that the Tepper COC hosts at CMU.

CIT Internship Opportunities Database

There are over 400 potential internship opportunities in this database. Here's how to use it:

  1. Use the website to access employers' websites and apply on-line to their internships.
  2. Find a CMU alumnus or contact at each employer to send your resume to, in addition to filling out the on-line application.
  3. Call or email the company and alumnus to follow-up with your application.

Note: Please do NOT just submit your resume on-line to these employers and then wait. You should follow-up and use additional strategies to have a successful internship search.
