Admissions

Educational Background

To be eligible for admission to the INI's graduate programs in information networking (MSIN), information security (MSISTM) and information technology (MSIT-MOB, MSIT-IS, and MSIT-SM) applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field. Applicants to the MSIT-MOB, MSIT-IS, and MSIT-SM programs may alternatively hold a bachelor's degree in information systems, information science, or information technology.

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0.

All entering students should have completed undergraduate courses covering software data structures and probability theory. For the MSIT-MOB, MSIT-IS, and MSIT-SM programs, this can be compensated by appropriate professional/industrial experience to be judged by the admissions committee.

Students admitted to MSIN and MSISTM programs must be proficient using either the C or C++ programming languages as they will have to code extensively in C in the first semester. Fluency in one of these languages is a prerequisite to some first-year core courses. Applicants must indicate on the application form how long they have used either one of these languages and describe their practical experience including projects incorporating C or C++. MSIT-MOB, MSIT-IS, and MSIT-SM applicants should have programming experience in data structures and an object-oriented programming language.

For admissions and application details, please refer to the individual program.

Deferral Policy

The INI does not allow admission deferrals. Each year, applicants are reviewed and ranked with the current applicant pool. Students are accepted for admission into the program for a particular academic year and may not defer admission.
