The INI Honors WINI at 'Thank-You' Reception

April 20, 2012

The INI hosted the Women@INI (WINI) student organization for the 2012 WINI Spring Reception on Friday, April 13. The reception is an annual tradition that honors WINI's contributions to the INI and the community. WINI members participate in activities such as professional development workshops for INI students and social gatherings throughout the school year. They also volunteer time to teach online safety workshops, talk with local girls about pursuing careers in engineering, and run food and clothing drives on campus.

At this year's reception, INI Director Dr. Dena Haritos Tsamitis thanked the attendees for their efforts as they enjoyed ice cream from a sundae bar. WINI faculty advisor Dr. Lorrie Cranor and WINI staff coordinator Jamie Lehneke presented the graduating students with certificates and thank-you gifts.

Each year, the INI nominates a WINI ambassador, a student who may keep an ongoing connection between the WINI cohort and the INI beyond graduation. This year, the INI selected Mila Gorodetsky and Astha Singhal.

The event was well attended by first-year and second-year students alike, giving the students a chance to relax and catch up with each other before many of them leave for summer internships and full-time jobs.
