From Summer Internship to Dream Job

February 08, 2012

If someone asked you what your dream job was, what would you say? Juan D. Trujillo, an INI student in the bicoastal Master of Science in Information Technology-Mobility program is now able to say that he has achieved it. Trujillo will be joining the Google+ team as a Test Engineer for Mobile at Google's Mountain View office in California this spring.

In his position, Trujillo will be participating in projects for the Google+ mobile versions, on both the Android and iPhone platforms, verifying that new releases meet quality standards and contributing to product testing plans and strategies. Working at Google last summer as an intern, Trujillo's project was to build an application programming interface (API) for testing automation of websites on mobile devices. Through this experience he was fortunate enough to be able to test the waters first to confirm that Google was where he wanted to end up.

"Google is a great place for engineers," Trujillo said. "You learn, interact with very smart people, challenge yourself, get to participate in projects that are literally changing the world, all while having fun with the benefits and perks provided for employees."

Trujillo said that his exposure to Google's open, innovative culture and being able to work with top-notch engineers during his internship influenced his decision to pursue full-time opportunities there. He also explained that his time at the INI helped him to gain these opportunities. The technical and non-technical courses he took helped Trujillo to better understand the mobile ecosystem from different perspectives, and also strengthened his analytical problem solving skills.

"Now that I have the opportunity to work in mobile projects, I hope to apply a lot of what I learned at the INI in order to contribute to Google+ mobile's innovation," Trujillo stated.
