March 05, 2009

When the Executive Women's Forum (EWF) hosts its Western Regional Meeting on Friday, Tyelisa Shields, a first-year graduate student at the Information Networking Institute (INI), will not only be among the attendees but will also address the audience. The CEO of Alta Associates and founder of EWF, Joyce Brocaglia, has invited Shields to join her on stage at the event.

Brocaglia is a keynote speaker at the event that attracts leaders in the information security, risk management and privacy industry. Other speakers represent women executives from Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Symantec, and other technology companies. Friday's event will focus on how to be a strong and effective leader during a troubled economy.

Shields is affiliated with the EWF as the 2008 recipient of the EWF Fellowship, a scholarship opportunity at the INI that provides full tuition and a mentoring relationship to a student who represents a minority in the field of information security. She is pursuing the Pittsburgh-Silicon Valley Master of Science in Information Technology – Information Security.

The EWF Western Regional Meeting will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Symantec, Mountain View Campus, in California.
