April 20, 2006

As part of the Carnegie Mellon CyLab Partners Conference, the Executive Women's Forum (EWF) held a breakout session on April 20 for all female conference attendees and female Carnegie Mellon security-related faculty, students, and staff. The breakout session was an opportunity for attendees to talk about women in security, the challenges women in security face, and the importance of networking.

The Executive Women’s Forum (EWF) is a group of over 200 of the most senior executive women in information security, risk management and privacy who meet yearly to share experiences and build trust-based relationships. The EWF is organized by Alta Associates, a premier executive recruitment firm specializing in Information Security, IT Audit, Risk Management and Privacy. The breakout session was hosted by Joyce Brocaglia, President and CEO of Alta Associates.

During the Partners Conference, the Information Networking Institute (INI) and the EWF announced the formation of an alliance to advance partnerships between EWF participants and women in the INI and create three full-tuition scholarships to be awarded over the next three years to a female student enrolling in Carnegie Mellon's Master of Science in Information Security Technology and Management (MSISTM) program.
