Global Outreach

Where does the INI get involved outside the Carnegie Mellon campus? Face to face, the INI is made up of graduate students, alumni, faculty and staff. But, in fact, the INI influence extends beyond the threshold of the classroom. It is a mechanism of innovation in the realm of research centers and think tanks. It is a wellspring in a wide range of IT education, training and outreach programs.

When you connect with the programs and initiatives at the INI, you rub shoulders with a global community, a fellowship of learners and innovators, thinkers and doers, and movers and shakers, who are discovering and advancing knowledge in information networking, information security, mobility and software management. When you get involved in the INI, you join this community of scholars, all confident and connected, going places.

How the INI Connects Globally

INI Global Graduate Degree Programs

As part of its globalization strategy, the INI offers graduate degree programs at partner institutions in both Europe and Asia:

The INI Distributed Education Centers (DEC)

The INI has state-of-the-art distributed education centers (DEC) that serve as global classrooms where Carnegie Mellon faculty and students in Pittsburgh connect with their international and Silicon Valley counterparts. Both facilities are equipped with the latest videoconferencing technology in order to make students in all remote locations feel like they are all in one classroom.

INI Exchange Program

The INI Exchange Program offers second-year students enrolled in INI graduate degree programs at internationl partner institutions the opportunity to take courses and/or work on their thesis in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 1-2 semesters.

MySecureCyberspace

The MySecureCyberspace initiative was inspired by the President's National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace with the goal of empowering all users to secure their own place in cyberspace.

Through the initiatives of this global community, the INI is a source of support and encouragement among academics and professionals and a source of information for the home-based non-technical learners who connect with the INI at workshops and over the Internet.
