Location: McConomy Auditorium, University Center

Description: 2-13 Andy AwardsThe staff members of the INI and Carnegie Mellon's Silicon Valley campus (CMU-SV) have been nominated for The Andy Award for Outstanding Innovation. The Andy Awards are given annually as "a tribute to the spirit of teamwork and dedication embodied by the staff at Carnegie Mellon University. Individual staff members and teams of colleagues whose work has had a significant impact on the university are recognized for their outstanding performance and commitment to excellence through the Andy Awards program." The Andy Awards are awarded in six categories: Dedication, Commitment to Students, Innovation, Culture and University Citizenship, and Community Contributions.

The Andy Awards webpage offers the following description on the INI/CMU-SV nomination:

The staff members of the Information Networking Institute (INI) and Carnegie Mellon’s Silicon Valley campus (CMU-SV) have collaborated in a creative and ambitious way to offer master's programs with a bicoastal structure, called the Pittsburgh-Silicon Valley Master of Science in Information Technology Programs (Bicoastal MSIT). Students spend the first half of their master's program doing requirements in Pittsburgh and then relocate to Mountain View to complete the last half of their program, doing requirements at the CMU-SV. The bicoastal structure is truly innovative because they provide valuable Silicon Valley opportunities to students with a passion for technology.  The programs position Carnegie Mellon as a university that stands out from competitors. Since its launch in 2008, the program's staff has performed amazingly to firmly establish the bicoastal programs and guide them toward dynamic growth.
