CyLab Seminar: Cyberwar - You're Doing It Wrong!

Time: November 12, 2012 - 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Location: DEC@CIC, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh

Description:

CyLab is pleased to host Marcus Ranum, Chief Security Officer for Tenable. The talk is titled "Cyberwar: You're Doing It Wrong!"

The CyLab seminar takes place every Monday at noon during the semester, typically in the INI Distributed Education Center classroom at the Collaborative Innovation Center (DEC@CIC). Free pizza is provided for lunch.

Speaker: Marcus Ranum

Talk Abstract: No matter how you slice it, cyber war is technologically and militarily impractical. We've been talking about it a long time, but the discussion has been (and still is) misleading and inaccurate. Several issues (cyber crime, cyber espionage, cyber terror) are grouped under the rubric of cyber war, but they have different and sometimes conflicting agendas. This discussion looks past the hype of cyber war.
