9/11 Scribes

Time: September 9, 2011 - 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Location: The Singleton Room, Roberts Engineering Hall

A decade after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America, a panel of media experts hosted by Carnegie Mellon's Pradeep K. Khosla will discuss the global lessons learned from the tragic event.

Panel members include James R. (Bob) Hagerty, news editor of The Wall Street Journal; Kevin Begos, supervising correspondent of the Associated Press; Rem Rieder, editor of the American Journalism Review; and Richard Snodgrass, author and photographer of An Uncommon Field, photos and short prose of the temporary Flight 93 memorial. His book will be available for sale at the event.

In addition to the panel, CMU engineering students will host a "Letters From Home" campaign collecting thank-you notes and condolences for the families of Flight 93 that crashed in Shankesville after brave passengers scuffled with the plane's onboard terrorist hijackers.

The event is open to the public, and lunch will be served. Reservations may be sent to swaney@andrew.cmu.edu or sraube@andrew.cmu.edu.
