Meeting of the Minds

Time: May 5, 2010 - 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Location: University Center

Nearly 500 students will participate in the 15th annual Meeting of the Minds Undergraduate Research Symposium from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 5 in the University Center. Meeting of the Minds is sponsored by Carnegie Mellon's Undergraduate Research Office, which encourages and supports undergraduates to engage in the type of research and innovation that at many institutions is the sole domain of faculty and graduate students.
Several research projects focus on the student experience, including an analysis of the Carnegie Mellon Class of 2010's post-graduation plans and a study about the transition to college for students with Type 1 diabetes. Mellon College of Science senior Erin Gantz and College of Engineering senior David Kinskey-Lebeda will screen their "Why Buggy?" documentary film at 10 a.m. in McConomy Auditorium. Projects in the rapid prototyping competition category will be demonstrated in the afternoon, including "Mentos and Diet Coke Car" and "The Magnetic Ink Sketch Pad."
