Michael J. Cloppert, Senior Member and Security Intelligence Analyst for Lockheed Martin's enterprise Computer Incident Response Team, presents "Careers in Information Security and Tales from the Front Lines of Network Defense."

Speaker: Michael Cloppert

Talk Abstract: In this two-part presentation, Michael will introduce the field of information security from a career development perspective, giving attendees a broad view of the industry and how their various academic backgrounds may align.  As the lecture progresses, Michael will give an insider's view into what it's like to defend a network used for the design of the next generation of national defense technologies.
Speaker Bio: Michael is a senior member and security intelligence analyst for Lockheed Martin's enterprise Computer Incident Response Team. He has been working in IT since 1997, and specifically in information security since 2001. Michael has a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Dayton, various industry certifications, and will be receiving his MS in Computer Science from The George Washington University later this year. His past speaking engagements include meetings and conferences organized by IEEE, SANS, and DC3 (Dept of Defense Cyber Crime Center), and he teaches an introductory class on cryptography to fellow LM employees. Michael is also a semi-professional trombonist, and enjoys traveling.
