Admission

Admissions is suspended in 2010 while a new Kobe MSIT-IS program structure is coordinated with the University of Hyogo. The next class to be admitted to the Kobe MSIT-IS program will be in the fall of 2011. Please email ini@cmu.edu with any questions.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree with a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0 or equivalent
  2. Successful completion of introductory-level undergraduate computer science or information technology course*
  3. Demonstrated analytical ability, including successful completion of undergraduate probability or statistics courses*
  4. English proficiency for non-native speakers

*Items 2 & 3 can be compensated by appropriate professional/industrial experience to be judged by the admissions committee.

Submission Package

The application submission package must include the material listed below. For details regarding this material, go to Application Details.

To be considered for admission, you must submit the following documents:

  • A completed Online Application form
  • Official transcripts from any undergraduate or graduate school you have attended whether a degree was received or not. If the transcripts are in any language other than English, an official translation in English is required. A photocopy of a transcript is not considered official.
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • A statement of purpose (500-1,000 words)
  • Official GRE General Test scores
  • Official TOEFL scores for applicants whose native language/mother tongue is not English; the IELTS are also accepted
